Abstract Background

The aim of this competition is to produce two wonderful anthems for the climate change / environment movement based on these two melodies.

In 2024 the melodies are EITHER I Vow to Thee My Country (Jupiter theme from Holst’s The Planets) OR Tallis' Third Mode Melody (theme of Vaughan-Williams’ Tallis Fantasia).

Prize-money for each of the two winning 2024 texts is £200.

  1. The competition will be launched on Monday 2nd September 2024.

  2. Deadline for receipt of entries will be 18:00 GMT on Monday October 28th 2024.

  3. Decisions on the winning texts will be made by mid-November 2024.

Judges are the Bristol-based poet and augmented sound artist Ralph Hoyte, 2022-2024 Bristol City Poet Kat Lyons and David Adams, Bozarts Artistic Director.

Bozarts will actively promote the winning works to a wide range of performing groups and organizations, including choirs and instrumental ensembles from community, amateur, and professional backgrounds.
